"As for me & my house we will serve the Lord".
This enclosure marks the spot where Captain Ichabod Scranton and the remnant of his company were buried December 1760. Born in Madison, Connecticut, Feb. 19th, 1717, he received his Commission from King George II and fought in the French and Indian War. On the return march from Ticonderoga, he and many of his company were stricken with smallpox, died and were buried on this spot. He was a man of Patriotism and enterprise and his death deemed a public loss.
